CLARUS MARK II BI-WIRE SPEAKER CABLES
Exceptional Detail, Dynamics & Tonal Balance
Bi-wire speaker cables are a two-conductor to four-conductor configuration where the two-conductor end connects to an amplifier output channel. The four-conductor end attaches one pair of connectors to a loudspeaker’s high-frequency input and the other pair to a loudspeaker’s low-frequency input.
Clarus bi-wire speaker cables use the purest available copper, extruded into three unique conductor geometries optimized for bass, midrange, and high-frequencies, and insulated to minimize inter-conductor interference. To optimize the signal path further, we orient the positive and negative conductors in a flat configuration that lowers inductance and eliminates phase distortion. Additionally, the large gauge of Clarus speaker cable conductors lowers the cable’s resistance making it easier for an amplifier to drive the loudspeakers. The result of this innovative topology? Open and transparent sound with exceptional clarity, detail, dynamics, and tonal balance.
Technology
The Purest Copper Available for the Purest Sound Possible
Clarus designs cables for discriminating audiophiles using the purist copper available. Pure Continuous Cast Copper (PCCC) uses a unique proprietary mold extrusion process that creates substantial lengths of single-crystal copper that is directional, free of impurities, flexible, corrosion-resistant, with low electrical resistance, and non-crystal boundaries that are structurally perfect

Conductor Geometry Optimized for the Full Audio Spectrum
Clarus cable engineering goes beyond mere wire gauge, utilizing independent designer, Jay Victor’s eight years of research and development of five patents to create bi-wire speaker cables that feature three distinct conductor types optimized for bass, midrange, and high-frequencies.
Clarus uses solid, heavy-gauge, round conductors with a broad cross-sectional area to enhance the predominant path for low frequencies. An ultra-thin ribbon conductor wrapped around a non-conductive core to provide an ideal path for high frequencies. We optimize mid-range signals by using a wide, flat conductor. The flat design lacks the skin depth necessary to support low bass. At the same time, the insulated large surface area of the mid-range conductor de-emphasizes high frequencies, producing an accurate, silky-smooth audio mid-range. Mathematically balancing these three shapes into the design of a signal conductor provides musical clarity and tonal balance not available in conventional conductor designs.
Flat Design Eliminates Phase Distortion
Typical round speaker cables use positive and negative conductors twisted together. This common configuration causes phase distortion in audio signals that result in audible noise. The flat design used in all Clarus bi-wire speaker cables orients the positive and negative conductors in parallel, eliminating phase distortion, thereby improving sound quality and imaging.
Multiple Levels of Insulation Maintain Purity
Each of the conductors in Clarus bi-wire speaker cables is independently insulated to minimize inter-conductor interference and maintain the clarity, openness, and transparency provided by our unique three-conductor design.

Mark II — The Final Connection
Clarus terminates bi-wire speaker cables with your choice of BFA-style banana plugs, spade lugs, or a combination of the two. We make both connectors with military-grade beryllium copper—a lightweight, springy alloy that is famous for creating low-loss connections. Beryllium copper has a strong memory characteristic. When its shape is displaced, it tries to spring back to its original position or shape. This unique characteristic is ideal for speaker connectors placed under tension when connected to speaker binding posts. Clarus calls this “Spring Tension” connector technology.
Typical banana plugs have four spring-type sections that contact only a small area inside the binding post receptacle, leading to loss of tension over time. Clarus designed Mark II Spring Tension BFA Banana Plug connectors to address this issue. When plugged into a speaker’s binding post receptacle, its cylindrical shape compresses inward to make 360 degrees of contact and guarantees a secure electrical connection. The beryllium copper’s resilience causes the cylindrical shape to try to spring back to its original larger shape, ensuring the Clarus Mark II Spring Tension BFA Banana Plug will never cause a loss of sonic fidelity.
The design of Clarus Mark II Spring Tension Spade Lug connectors is genuinely unique. Most high-end speaker binding posts designed for use with spade lugs are challenging to tighten by hand. Not only can this lead to insufficient contact that will degrade sound quality, but the connection may loosen over time. However, Clarus makes Mark II Spring Tension Spade Lug connectors from solid beryllium copper with a center slice machined out of the flat U terminal. This cut allows the U terminal to flex and compress when tightened into a speaker’s binding post. The inherent springiness of beryllium copper acts like a lock washer, creating tension that provides a long-lasting electrical contact and maintains signal integrity with no loss of musical fidelity.
