Clarus Concerto
CLARUS CONCERTO POWER CONDITIONER
The Clarus Flagship Eight Outlet Power Conditioner
By applying innovative engineering concepts combined with extensive listening from analog and digital components, Clarus developed Concerto, a state-of-the-art power conditioner. The Clarus Concerto provides your system components with AC power scrubbed clean of the unwanted extraneous noise generated onto your building’s internal power grid by electrical appliances or induced by electromagnetic interference (EMI). Concerto features a high-performance AC line conditioner, noise eliminator, surge suppressor, under/over voltage protection, vibration control, and a cable support bar to easily handle heavy power cables easily.
The Concerto features high-performance hospital-grade outlets engineered with advanced materials to ensure electrical contact integrity and reliability over time. Angled at 45 degrees to make AC plug connections easy, each duplex outlet and associated filter circuit is isolated, thus prohibiting interaction between adjacent outlets. In addition, each outlet bank is labeled as ANALOG, DIGITAL, or HIGH CURRENT to guarantee the appropriate type of filtering for each component type.
TECHNOLOGY
Application Specific AC Delivery System
The ANALOG duplex outlet bank connects to a proprietary filter design that enables analog music to bloom. Engineered with Clarus Core (C-Core) filters, these outlets ensure there is no restriction of dynamics. The technologically advanced C-Core has superb magnetic properties that perform and sound better than any other analog audio filter available.
Clarus Concerto Back Panel
Two individually filtered DIGITAL duplex outlet banks, featuring specially designed isolated circuits, deliver clean power to digital audio components like DACs and CD players. The proprietary design of complex multi-level filtering includes Clarus C-Core offering the best noise attenuation while not restricting dynamics.
The HIGH-CURRENT duplex outlet delivers clean AC power filtered by the sophisticated Clarus High-Current Core (HC-Core)—providing full power to high current components like power amplifiers, powered speakers, and powered subwoofers without restricting dynamics.
Clarus-Core Technology and Vibration Control for the Lowest Possible Noise Floor
The Concerto Power Conditioner features proprietary Clarus-Core (C-Core) technology in all analog & digital filters and, Clarus-High Current Core (HC-Core) in the high current filters. Made with nanocrystalline soft magnetic (ferrite) material, the high saturation magnetic flux density and high permeability of the military-grade Clarus-Cores produce a high impedance with excellent noise suppression over a wide frequency range.
Furthermore, Clarus-Core exhibits near-zero effects of magnetostriction—a property of ferromagnetic materials that causes them to change shape or dimensions during the magnetization process. The low magnetostriction of Clarus-Core significantly reduces audible noise emission when the applied voltage and current are in the audible frequency range. No other core performs as well to keep your AC signal silent and clean.
Additionally, Concerto incorporates a unique vibration controlling design. A low-frequency AC signal passing through the copper windings of an inductive filter can result in mechanical vibration. Concerto integrates chassis vibration dampening material to prevent electronic component vibrations from becoming audible.
Under/Over Voltage Protection for Safe Operation
Audio components are sensitive to extreme voltage changes. Brown-outs and voltage spikes can damage internal parts, resulting in expensive repairs. To protect precious audio components, we equipped Concerto with undervoltage and overvoltage protection. If the line voltage drops below 90VAC or rises above 135VAC, an audible alarm sounds and auto shut-down occurs. When safe voltage returns, the Concerto will return to its last power state. Additionally, you can switch the alarm on and off.
Three Levels of Protection and LED Safety Lights
Concerto features a layered fail-safe system that will protect your audio equipment. A thermal breaker is built into the input of the Concerto Power Conditioner, protecting from overcurrent conditions caused by excessive loads or equipment short circuits. Highly sophisticated Thermal Metal Oxide Varistors (TMOV) provide 960 joules of surge suppression with an integral temperature sensor designed to trigger a relay. If the TMOV reaches a critical temperature, the relay disconnects the power. If the surge suppression circuit is compromised, the front panel Protection Fault LED illuminates, and the unit shuts down for safety. Additionally, ground and polarity LEDs indicate that the power cable and outlet to which Concerto is connected are in phase and properly grounded.
Built-In Cable Support
Concerto provides a cable support system to handle heavy high current power cables effortlessly.
Concerto Will Not Limit Current
The Concerto delivers full power without restriction. That’s why we recommend using a power cable like the CCP-HC Crimson High Current Power Cable that is designed to withstand equally high current. The CCP-HC Crimson High Current Power Cable is an excellent choice. Power cable sold separately.
